New obsession

So, Argyle is planning the Museum of World Treasures annual Fundraiser A NIGHT OF TREASURES.  This year's theme is Bombers and Bombshells.  A throwback to 1940s WWII ear.

Part of the evenings fun is the step and repeat.

For those of you who dont know what a step and repeat is, its the red carpet style backdrop photo area with sponsor logos on it that you have your photo taken in front of.

Typically, they are just individuals and couples posing for a photo and then they move on and the next group gets their photo taken and repeat, and repeat and repeat.

In the past, the Museum poted to have their guests photos taken infront of a green screen.  Green screen is a backdrop that you take video or photos in front of and allows the background to be replaced with what ever image you want.  (like the weather man on tv in front of the radar or map.)

This year, we are turning up the fun level for the step and repeat.

A fun new trend for photo booths, wedding photos, party photos, etc is the use of props.
Here are a few inspiration photos of some fun photo props.
They are easy and fund to make or you can support hand-made artists and pick them up on Etsy, etc.

Stop what you are doing and make a moustache on a stick, RIGHT NOW!

FALL 2011 Trends

How do you become the authority on what a trend is going to be?  I have decided that you just say you are, post what you think is cool and see what happens from there.

Here is what Argyle will focus on this summer into fall and winter.
1. TWIGGY TEXTURE
2. LAVISH LIGHTING
3. MISS. MATCH; MIX AND MATCH; MORE IS MORE

TWIGGY TEXTURE
You can incorporate natural twiggy texture into your event in many ways.  Everything from your invitations and decorations to food and lighting.

Twiggy Texture doesnt mean rustic, organic nature.  It can also be glamorous and chic!

LAVISH LIGHTING
Everyone looks better in the correct lighting - that is why television sets, theatre stages and rock concerts bring in the hundreds of professionl lights and a designer to make it all look amazing. Why shouldn't your event have the same!

A few properly places lighting fixtures, candles, etc can add a professional finishing touch to your event.   I believe that it is silly to spend hundreds of dollars on knick-knacks to hang on walls, place on tables and are not to scale to the room and look cheap - even if you spent a lot of money on them.  That part of your budget should go towards lighting!  $500 - $1000 can wash your entire room with color, add a monogram to the dance floor or wall and make your guests gasp when they first see the space.

MISS. MATCHED; MIX AND MATCH; MORE IS MORE
Perfectly matched is beautiful and impressive when done flawlessly.  The key word there is flawlessly.  It also packs a pricey punch to accomplish.

I am a fan of miss-matched everything.  What you love to look at and makes you happy will always go well together.   Breakting rules of what goes together is fun!  Mix it up!

I am a huge fan of vintage things.
I am a huge fan of more is more.
I am a huge fan of repurposing things.
I am a huge fan of ugly things.
I am a huge fan of collecting things.
I am a huge fan of hoarding things.
I am a huge fan of putting too many things on a wall, counter or shelf.
I am a huge fan of old things.
I am a huge fan of odd.
Put them all together and you have amazing.

Also: If you find multiple things whos shape look great together but the colors are just not right, spray paint them all the same color.  Color on color on color of the same color is very cool.  And whats more fun than spraypainting stuff, right?!
